Friends of Silver Gate (FSG) is a non-profit 501C(3) fundraising organization dedicated to enhancing the education of the children who attend Silver Gate Elementary School. Our efforts support the purchase of items and programs such as school supplies for all students, the garden program, STEAM lab, and classroom grants for needed materials.

FSG works because of you! There is no membership or commitment required. We invite and encourage parent, teacher and community involvement so that each matter can be considered from all perspectives. Our meetings are held once a mont on Wednesdays at 6pm (see dates).

FSG events & fundraisers are the engine that supports our mission to enhance the learning experience of all students at Silver Gate. Volunteers are the heart of our organization. We accept any and all help we can get! From small jobs to sponsorships to chairing an event, there are many ways to help.

FSG welcomes Gators and their families back to the new school year with a low-key chance to eat, play, and connect at our back to school picnic held on campus. This year we will have an amazing BMX Assembly! You won't want to miss it.

BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC 8/28

Every Silver Gate family is part of FSG! Join us for our first monthly meeting of the year to hear about upcoming events, school needs and announcements, and ways to get involved. Meetings are held each month on Wednesdays at 6 PM in the Library, and everyone is welcome. See Dates.

FIRST FSG MEETING 8/19 6PM

Join us for our first Monday Morning Assembly of the year! This weekly Silver Gate tradition is led by our Gator Leaders and is a fun way to start the week together — celebrating accomplishments, learning through Leader in Me, dancing, and more. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to stay!

Every week students at Silver Gate participate in our award-winning garden program, thanks to the volunteers dedicating their time, and funds raised by FSG to support the program.

Did you know that the fun and exciting field trips, special assemblies, and presenters that our students are able to participate in come from your donations? Every year, each grade level is allocated funds by FSG to promote exciting enrichment activities for all students.

Teacher grants

We honor the investment of time, energy, and care our teachers put into making school great for students at Silver Gate. FSG supports our teachers with a $500 yearly grant, allowing teachers the opportunity to invest in just what is needed to support themselves and their students in having a successful year.

STEAM ENRICHMENT

STEAM LAB

One of the weekly highlights for many students is their time in the STEAM lab. Here, they integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math concepts into hands-on learning projects.

LIBRARY ENRICHMENT

Every week, Mrs. H welcomes each class to the library to deepen their love of learning and explore new topics through her exciting and engaging curriculum. Without the FSG donor community support to supplement this time, these enriching experiences would be cut in half with a librarian on site only one day per week.

How do I join FSG?

There’s no membership required—if you have a student at Silver Gate, you’re already part of FSG! Meetings are the third Wednesday of each month at 6pm. Event details and volunteer opportunities can be found on Konstella.

Why do we have FSG?

Silver Gate receives funding from the State of California, but it’s not enough to cover the exceptional classroom instruction and enriching programs our students enjoy. FSG helps bridge that gap by raising the funds needed to support the enhanced curriculum, activities, and opportunities that make Silver Gate such a special place to learn and grow

Who can I talk to if I have an idea for a school event?

Each FSG monthly meeting has an opportunity to raise new business. Please feel free to reach out to the FSG President (president@friendsofsilvergate.org) or another board member if you’d like to connect before the meeting. 

Where do my donations go?

As a 501(c)3 tax exempt corporation, Friends of Silver Gate is committed to allocating funds raised toward the enrichment experiences, programs, and resources needed to maintain and build on the excellent experience at Silver Gate Elementary, for current students and those to come. All donations to FSG are tax deductible. 

Is FSG a PTA?

FSG is not a PTA. PTAs are national organizations with membership dues, while FSG is a local, independent non-profit foundation focused solely on supporting Silver Gate. Every parent or guardian here is automatically part of FSG—no dues required.
